The European Union (EU) is an economic and political community, an intergovernmental and supranational community of European states, created as a practical result of the process of cooperation and integration processes initiated in 1951 between six states (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands). An extremely significant global institutional organization of states with about 450 million inhabitants, it is clear that it represents a very significant economic (number of consumers of goods and services) - social (number of inhabitants) potential. Formally - the legal framework that defines the establishment and functional principles of the European Union is regulated by elements of Community law, which practically represents a complete system of legal rules that regulate the complete system of social relations within the European Union. The above-mentioned legal elements are mainly consensual, or contractual in nature, and have supremacy over the national legislation of the European Union member states, which is also a consensual principle.
