Abstract

This paper aims to redefine the role of cultural policy of local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to point to the right of local communities to adopt and implement it. Not only that there are international documents signed by Bosnia and Herzegovina that refer to that, but there are various positive examples of cities in the European Union too. These are the cities that due to the adoption of adequate cultural policies in theory, and by their practical applications have become economically prosperous cities from industrial towns on the verge of economic collapse. The state of culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina due to political disagreements is such that a unified public cultural policy at this level is not possible. The affirmation of clear public policy policies in the field of culture remains possible at the local level. It is essential that the local administration in B&H develops a strategic document for cultural development, where, among other things, they will process the affirmation of the local tradition through a tourist offer to promote the way of life in small towns.
