Abstract

The main goal of this paper is the analysis of public private partnership (PPP) in the health sector. Medium-term and long-term contractual business relationship between the private sector and the government, aiming the project realization in public purposes, is defined as public- private partnership. The first part of the paper shows the main forms of PPP and its markets in EU. Inclusion of private sector in functioning of health sector by usage of PPP model may be justified both by specificity of the health sector (especially in the importance to provide the best possible health service) and by the problems of financing in the sector. In order to prove this in second part of the paper, we made the review in GDP (%) and per capita (expressed in dollars) both in old and new EU state members and in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the review of financing source of the health sector in certain states. The last part of the paper shows the implementation of the PPP in the EU health sector. This part covers different PPP forms specific for the health sector, and the experiences of different countries are stated here regarding the implementation of the forms in practice.
